TYPICAL 9 DAY
ITINERARY
Monday: “jet-lag
arrival day” Your “jet-lag
arrival day” in Stuttgart. Pick up your luggage and catch a taxi to
our hotel outside Stuttgart, it’s about a 20 min. ride to our german
hotel. You are pre-registered at the hotel so check in, take a
shower and a short nap perhaps; but don’t sleep too long as you’ll
do much better staying up, sightseeing or exercising out in the
sunshine. We “meet and greet” at 7:00 P.M. in the “Bar Area” over in
the back corner-I’m the Gordon Liddy guy with a moustache
and gold name tag-so it's easy to spot me.
Day 1- Tuesday: "Site seeing
begins" A large German breakfast awaits you and you’ll
need it as you'll enjoy full-day. We’ll board our GAT Motor
Coach or rental cars and we are off to Untertürkheim and visit
the new V6 and V8 Engine Plant of Mercedes-Benz, followed later by
an organized tour of the Mercedes Museum. We’ll have our lunch at
the VFB Sport Restaurant then afterwards we transfer to the
Mercedes-Benz Werk in Sindelfingen and the Visitors Center.
Later, it’s our VIP Tour of the
Mercedes-Benz Production Facility for the S, E, and C Class cars;
Who’s picking up a new car? When the Plant closes we’ll drive back
to the Hotel.
Day 2- Wednesday: "Mercedes-Benz Classic
Center" After breakfast, we head for the Mercedes
Classic Center in Fellbach for an in-depth look at the Mercedes
Restoration/Sales Facility; then the Daimler Memorial in Cannstatt;
late morning I have a BIG surprise for you (no, I’m not telling);
Lunch at the ”Guest and Management Restaurant”; Visit the oldest
Mercedes Store at Türlenstrasse; Short trip to M-B Forum then back
to the Hotel for some “free time” and everybody meets at 7:30 P.M.
for our short walk over for dinner-
Day 3- Thursday: “Black Forest/Autobahn
Touring Day" After your leisurely breakfast, 5 of you
will accompany me over to the Museum Area to pick up our cars. We’ll
drive back to the hotel and convoy out of Stuttgart; there will be
driver change-overs into new cars about every hour so everyone will
have a chance to ride in different cars through this fairy tale
country side; Lunch in Triberg at the picturesque Restaurant- Hotel
Pfaff with Peter, the owner. You sports types can hike up the
mountain trail to Germany highest waterfall, if you like…We’ll
caravan slowly back towards Stuttgart and turn in our cars at
Untertürkheim.
Day 4- Friday: "Fantasyland
AMG" After fueling (breakfast), we wind our way over to
AMG’s Fantasyland in Affalterbach. We’ll spend almost 2 hours
looking at modifications being made to some of the world’s most
treasured M-B Sedans, cabrios, G-Wagens and CLKs. Later, a visit to
HWA and the DTM Cars nearby; Then it’s G. Daimler’s Birthplace in
lovely half-timbered Schorndorf; you’ll enjoy my choice for lunch;
Short stop over at Mercedes Lorinser ; Back to the hotel ca. 5:00
P.M.
Day 5- Saturday: “Options
Day” Have a leisurely start as this is your “Options
Day” to do as you wish, e.g. spend the day shopping on 1 Kilometer
long Königstasse; come with some of us to revisit the Mercedes
Museum; take in one of the exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art;
Walk through the gardens of the famous Wilhelma Gardens; Stroll over
to the City Market for a view of “Locals” buying their breads and
vegetables; Take a Tour of Stuttgart and a Wellness Center visit???
Tonight is our dressier night at Bernies Kachelofen or other place
in middle of the old town.
Day 6- Sunday: "Track
Day" After breakfast it’s check-out time into our new
Hotel. I added a new addition to the Tour - we will journey north to
the famous F1 Grand Prix Race Track – Hockenheimring (or Note:
Sinsheim as Option) and spend the afternoon enjoying their
Motor-Sport-Museum and its huge exhibition area filled with racing
cars & motorcycles and engines; See if you can get in some Cart
Driving; When everyone’s had enough it’s back to the hotel.
Day 7- Monday: "Porsche" Our
short car ride to Zuffenhausen and our special visit to the
one-and-only Porsche Production Facility, Museum, Boutique and
Delivery Center. You Porsche Buffs watch out for the new 997 &
997 Turbo and if we are lucky we may see the Cayman. We’ll also stop
over at Porsche’s NEWLY Opened Showroom. Maybe we’ll have time to
visit Ludwigsburg Castle, hm?
Day 8- Tuesday: "Augsburg-the road to
München" Check out of our hotel and auto travel over the
Danube to Augsburg and the German Baroque/Protestant Reformation. We
see where the Diesel Engines originated, Roman Ruins, The Luthern
Church has it’s beginnings here; This city gave King Ferdinand of
Spain the money to send Columbus to find the New World. Lots to show
you. Later, we’ll car pool out to our new german “Country Hotel” on
the scenic Ammersee (Lake Ammer). This is very quaint and
comfortable and will give you another perspective of Germany and
Bavaria looking towards the Alps.
Day 9- Wednesday: "Bavarian Motor
Werks" To Munich and the new BMW Museum, R&D Area,
the Olympic Complex from ’72; We’ll visit the Vitualien Market and
enjoy some wonderful pastery perhaps; If time allows, I take you
over to the German Museum and show you the original Benz Patent
Automobile on display. Later, lovely drive back to our Hotel in
Utting.
